CHURCH OFFICE CLOSING 3:00 p.m. – THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER

The church office will be closing today at 3:00 p.m. due to the threat of severe weather moving into our area later this afternoon.  The staff will have their cell phones if any updates to announcements need to be published.  We hope that all of our church family stays safe through the storms.

• Early Afternoon Mid-week Devotional Service

Wednesday, May 21, at Bud Cramer Park, 4:15 p.m.  Bud Cramer Park is on Howe Ave., NE,  35801.

Due to the threat of severe weather Tuesday evening, Buckhorn High School moved it’s Graduation to Wednesday, May 21, at 7:00 p.m. at the VBC. 

With this early worship service at Bud Cramer Park, students and families will be able to worship and attend graduation.  All of Chase Park is invited to the worship service.  Bring a lawn chair.  Thanks to our elders for making this a possibility.

Normal classes and Devotional service will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Chase Park building.

• College Age Summer Quarter Bible Class

Beginning June 1 and lasting for the entire summer quarter, Jon Burnett and Josh Casson will be leading a college age group.

This group will meet each Sunday morning for a class in the young professionals classroom upstairs, as well as for weekly fellowship activities. 

If any adult would like to host this group in their home for activities, or help out in any way, please see Jon or Josh.

 

YOUTH AND CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

 

·Year-round LTL Events – Providers and Keepers

We’re off to an early start with these year-round LTL events:  Providers and Keepers.  These programs connect our young men and young ladies with mentors in the congregation in order for them to learn important life skills.  Mentors are needed for the programs for this Summer and Fall.  If you are interested in being a mentor, please reach out to Valerie Matheny at church or via email (valerie.matheny@gmail.com).

Life skills for Providers (boys):  spiritual leadership, marriage, child discipline, lawn mower use/maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, family finances, car maintenance, gardening, home security

Life skills for Keepers (girls):  cooking, food preservation, table setting, information resources (library), nutrition and health, sewing, ironing, laundry, cleaning, childcare, horticulture, home safety/first aid, money management, hospitality, child discipline
