 Our Classes

We believe that learning about God's word is fundamental to being disciples of Jesus.  Jesus stated that it was truth that enabled us to be true disciples of His and to be set free from sin (John 8:31-32).  It is the hearing of the word of God that enables a person to find and build saving faith (Romans 10:17).  The Chase Park congregation has a number of classes for adults. These classes are focused on the Bible and will enable the students that attend to grow in their knowledge of God and His will for them.

This letter to the Romans shows the profound problems facing the early church, especially where the Jewish Christians outnumbered the Gentiles.  Most of the writings deal with the ethnic and religious tension between the two groups and how it put a heavy strain on Christian unity.

Curtis Hill

(Chase Park Young Professionals)

Join this class discussion and have a look at how God kept his Word pure and into the hands of people of all different languages.  Subjects such as the canon of the Scriptures, how we got the English Bible, the differences between a translation and a version, and other important areas related to God’s total divine Book we call the Bible.

Sam Kachelman

(Room 210 - L.I.F.E. Class)

(Living In Faith Everyday)

Jesus, the master teacher, often used parables to illustrate godly truths and principles. In this class, we will study these “early stories with heavenly meanings” in order to learn from Jesus’  wisdom and to gain valuable insights into our own Christian lives.

Naaman Goode / Paul King

(Room 212 - G.O.S.P.E.L. Class)

(God’s One Saving Power: Eternal Life)

A test of our faith and the purpose of those tests will be studied in these books.  The characteristics of our faith in relationship to works, the tongue, wisdom, and our dependency upon God will determine our everyday living.  We will also discuss Peter’s warning and encouragement for us to remain faithful even in persecution and apostasy.

John Denney

(Room 214 - A.C.T.S. Class)

(A Call To Serve)

Topical studies on these subjects will be discussed and studied:  Postmodernism and the Church, Humanism and Religion, Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage, Hypothetical situations (Is there such a thing as universal moral code?  Why does God heal some and not others with our prayers to Him?  Is it justifiable to kill certain people for certain crimes?  Capital punishment/death penalty.) and other related studies.

Wednesday - 6:30 P.M. - Fall 2017

Rusty Hills

(Room 102 - Small Auditorium)

The Lord’s church was in the midst of traumatic times during John’s writing of this book. Persecution raged against those disciples committed to Christ.  Because of great persecution, the writings were communicated in symbols and visions; however, the message is clear: the faithful Christian will have victory and will succeed and the unfaithful along with the ungodly will find defeat and torment in the end.

Dennis Lawson

(Room 208 - C.P.Y.P. class)

This class will be viewing: The Bible on Video “The Book of Genesis.”  It begins with the creation and goes through the life of Joseph.  In addition to the video, each class will cover approximately four chapters and a discussion period. The filming was done on site in the Holy Lands and in Egypt.  It is a KJV word-for-word “movie” of the book of Genesis.  The characters and actors were also individuals living in the same locations at time of the filming.

Wesley McDonald

(Room 210 - L.I.F.E. class)

The study starts with Solomon becoming king and the building of the temple which is often referred to as the Golden Age of Hebrew history.  The kingdom divides, and apostasy of the ten tribes occurs. The last 130 years of the Northern Kingdom and the last 250 years of the Southern Kingdom will be studied.

Steve Watson

(Room 212 - G.O.S.P.E.L. class)

This class will provide an overview of the sacrifices, priesthood, holy seasons, and various laws given the children of Israel for their 40 year wilderness wanderings.  They will observe how the Old Testament laws prepared the way for Christ and His New Testament.

Ray Brown

(Room 218 - Foundations class)

The church was in the mind of God from the foundation of the world.  Jesus promised to build His church and gave instruction to His apostles in organization and identifying marks for it.  The Lord himself and the inspired writers told that some would depart from the faith and that there would be a falling away.  A look at the restoration movement of the church in America will also be part of this class.

Andrea Hills

(Room 220 - Family Ties class)

What does Solomon conclude about wisdom, righteousness, knowledge, and the fear of God?  Wise sayings (mostly by Solomon), dealing with the practical affairs of life, and his answers on how to find true happiness while on earth will be discussed.

"The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."  2 Timothy 2:2
